I have been animating this boy at work for about a year, and I kind of hate him. He was designed a long time ago and his proportions don't lend themselves readily to animation. So I finally got wise and simplified him a bit and altered his design to make him a little easier to work with.

I've been watching a lot of westerns lately, and I did some quick drawings from my favorites. Sergio Leone is my favorite western director, and by coincidence most of his movies were filmed in my mission, in Andalucia. Pretty far removed from the real Wild West but a lot better scenery.

Something I did at work a couple months ago. I don't know what happened to the aspect ratio (it's not supposed to be so stretched), but maybe you can adjust your monitor.
Some time in the near future I will post some stuff from the tug of war game I have spent the last couple months working on. It features the same mullet boy character and some Punchout! inspired opponents. I think it is pretty cool.

For several weeks in Ryan's class we drew animals. I'm not posting most of the ones I drew, because they didn't turn out very well, because I don't draw animals very often. So it was good that we had to draw animals, cuz now I know that I need to draw animals more

Tommy Recks. This is one of my favorite drawings for Ryan's class. I haven't drawn dinosaurs much since third grade, so I figured it was about time I got back to the important stuff.

This is Skelk, the evil Irish Elk skeleton. He likes to hide in the closets of small children and then jump out and scare them. This is very hard for him because of his huge antlers.

Meet BUZBY. He is the character I designed for Barry's INDES 360 (I think) class. I animated him for the final, but I want to work on that some more when I get back to Utah, so I'm not posting it yet. In the mean time, here is the original design.

Buzby is inspired by old rubber hose cartoons like Betty Boop and Felix the Cat, and also classic Hollywood musicals.

BEAR MAN and AeroVicky

Bear Man is based on the alter ego of the legendary Andrew Mitchell. He is a vigilante who has taken it upon himself to uphold justice and peace in peaceful suburbia. That means there's not much for him to do, but he gets very angry anyway, and tears a lot of stuff up.

The Heroine, AeroVick (get it?) is a fitness nut. The Atypical Hero, Bear Man, looks more like a gorilla here. I worked on him later. The Hero is a Norse god-turned-rock god. His guitar has magical powers. I like the muscular nun idea, but I didn't really finish her. The Villainess is some kind of military nut. The Villain, The Crow, is pompous and foppish. And I'll just throw in 'shakespearean.'

Second part of Ryan's assignment. I used a white-out pen to create negative space on two of the silhouettes that Ryan and the class picked. Note: the second witch from the left is not an elephant, it's Max Rebo.
The characters with a check next to them were picked by Ryan and the class for the third part of the assignment, so stay tuned. Also thanks a lot guys for picking the bikini witch...

Rejected Hebrew Course Animation

This is an animation I did at work. I never polished it up, as you can see; the ground doesn't move as the Israelites walk, and their walk cycles are only four keyframes (actually I wasn't gonna inbetween them. That's too much work!), etc. But I didn't finish it because the course instructor didn't like the way it turned out. Apparently she didn't think it was dignified of Moses to give the thumb's up. So students of Independent Study course Hebrew 131 are going to be a little less entertained as they learn cohortative and jussive verb conjugation.

how little Ricardo became ambidextrous

Jack and I collaborated on this assignment, with extensive help from Jeremy. The story is based on an incident in his father's, Ricardo Estrada, life as a young boy in Cuba. There are a few problems with the shader: the boy's eyes are missing and his several expressions (blend shapes) are invisible, but overall Jack did a great job figuring out toon shaders near the end of an exhausting weekend marathon of animation work.

Starting at the top: The O Office (until I think of a cooler name), where Lonzo hangs out, Steamin' Lincoln, the henchman of Lonzo's arch nemesis (who will be seen when I redraw him), Marta Lavaton and Lonzo Washington.
